fogg-a-polooza-ii-local-beers-wines-live-music-and-great-food - Loku

Here's something a bit different for you this Thursday night. Phileas Foggs English pub/ restaurant just off the I-15 on Poway Rd is hosting its second annual 4 day "Fogg-a-Polooza" event with local brews, live music and great food at bargain prices all weekend long. While the drinks focus is on beers, they serve great wines, too (no spirits, though). All Things San Diego Assistant Organizer, Steve Wolff (www.wolfflive.com) will be playing live, kicking the whole thing off this Thursday (31st May) starting at 6 PM and playing until 10:00 PM (it is a weeknight, after all...). With 4 sets planned, he'll do either 1 or 2 "Almost Unplugged" sets depending on the crowd, then liven it up with 2 or 3 "1 Man Rock Band" sets. If it's practical, given the reorganized layout of the place, he will leave his set lists on the tables and at the bar so you can choose songs that you'd like to hear in the later sets. Please note that the bar has a 2 drink minimum per person for tables and seats at the bar on live music nights. For more information, please check out http://www.phileasfoggs.net/fogg-a-palooza-2-the-celebration-continues. They're still working out the beer and taster specials, so feel free to periodically check the web site and I'll update this posting with anything significant. This lively Pub / Restaurant has won the San Diego UT's Best Overall Bar 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well as Best Chicken Wings 2010 and 2011 and a couple of other categories (Best Sports Bar and Best Comfort Food). It is about 1 mile east of the I-15 on Poway Rd in the Sabre Springs strip mall (south side) and has over 150 beers and a great selection of wines from around the world. The food will prove that the term "Fine English Cuisine" is NOT an oxymoron and many of their regular food and drink prices are similar to happy hour prices at other places, yet they're good all the time. Owner Brian (from Newcastle in the north of England) decks his waitresses (and occasionally one of his regulars!) out in Newcastle United football outfits and there's a huge mural of Phileas Fogg's adventures (he's the main character in Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days) on one of the walls. For sports fans, there's a different sport on every TV (from both sides of the Atlantic). Parking in the lot is limited, but there's plenty of street parking if you turn right (south) immediately after the mall. As I'm playing, please consider this a semi-led event. If anyone is interested in co-hosting (all you're doing is meeting/ greeting/ introducing people, no set up needed), please email me: steve@wolfflive.com
