Feb. 2: Elwood BOE Work Session; Special Needs Basketball ...

Hello and welcome to the Thursday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: Partly sunny, with a high near 47. North wind between 5 and 9 mph.

2. Elwood School District Board of Education Work Session: 7:30 p.m. at Elwood Middle School.

3. Island Hills Chorus Global Open House: Refreshments, giveaways, and the chance to make over 50 New Friends in the chorus. 7:30 p.m.at 370 Motor Pkwy, Hauppauge, NY. FREE

4. Special Needs K.I.D.S. Plus Basketball: K.I.D.S. Plus offers therapeutic recreation and sports programs to children and young adults with developmental disabilities. This basketball program is intended for middle School and high school level children and young adults of all abilities and all communities to practice skills and drills and finish with a scrimmage each week. 5 p.m. at the Laurel Avenue School Gym, $25 for the whole program.

5. Film Classics at the Library: See Cape Fear (1962) at 1:30 p.m. in the Northport Public Library. FREE
