Local lad Kush Kumar overcame favourite and top seed Ahmed Alsaraj from Jordan 11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9 to win the Boys? Under-17 title in the Indian Open junior squash championship here Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Mangaonkar and Asian junior champion Anaka Alankamony, a first year student of the SSN Engineering College won the Under-19 titles in the boys and girls sections, respectively.
Kush Kumar showed a lot of maturity to stay with Ahmed Alsaraj, the Asian junior champion who tested the Indian with some drop shots to win the second game.
However, Kush stayed the course with the Jordanian and kept chipping away to emerge a deserving winner.
Mangaonkar had it easy against compatriot Abhishek Pradhan while winning 11-7, 11-1, 11-3, while Anaka was in a league of her own while outplaying Hong Kong?s Ho Ka Po 11-6, 11-8, 11-9.
